Gen Con Gem: Palm IslandAugust 7, 2018
Sometimes in the glitz and the glamour, it’s easy to miss out on a game or two. This week we’ll be looking at some of the Gen Con Gems that you should definitely keep on your radar.
Palm Island is a one to two player card game that can be played in about 20 minutes. Funded on Kickstarter in March, you play the cards in a line, and it offers a surprising amount of depth for such simple mechanics. Your goal is to build a village and collect resources by flipping or rotating cards, and get the most victory points by the end of the game.
One might think that the game would feel formulaic, with a deck of just 17 cards per player. But it’s store, rotate, and flip mechanics, combined with both cooperative and competitive cards, instead offer interesting, unique, and fast playthroughs. Interested?
